Science
At Sherwell Valley Primary School, our science curriculum is designed to encourage our children to become explorers, investigators, detectives and truth seekers. It provides the foundations for understanding the world around them (through the disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics) in a way which encourages curiosity and a love of discovery. By developing children’s skills to work scientifically and a passion for science, they will leave Sherwell Valley wanting to carry out their own experiments and continue on their life-long quest to learn about the world around them.
We explicitly teach the following investigative skills in our science lessons:
Our children will understand what they see, hear and experience in the world around them using science to provide rational answers, generating even more questions for them to answer (with their thirst for knowledge) as they grow older!
